Trueman Hoffmeister, Executive Director
Trueman Hoffmeister and Family
Trueman Hoffmeister accepted the role of Executive Director of Bridgeport Camp and Conference Center in October 2008, and moved from North Carolina with his family in November.
Trueman had worked with Christian-based YMCA camps since he began his career in 1990, serving as the Youth and Camping Director for the Lockport Family YMCA in Lockport, New York. As youth director, he was responsible for all aspects of the YMCA programs and managed Camp Kenan, the YMCA co-ed resident camp located on the south shore of Lake Ontario. In 1995, he joined the Strafford County YMCA in Rochester, New Hampshire, where he served as director of Camp Foss. From 1997 to 2003, Trueman served the YMCA of the Rockies as director of Camp Chief Ouray – a 100 year old YMCA camp. For 5 years prior to coming to Bridgeport, Trueman had been in North Carolina to help develop and start Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge, a new camp and conference center operated by the Charlotte YMCA.
Trueman and his wife, Wendy, feel truly blessed to be involved with camping and youth work. For the 5 years prior to coming to Bridgeport, Wendy was an adjunct math professor at the local community college, and she ran the camp store in the summer. Currently, she teaches Math at Poolville High School. Their two children, Emily (8) and Kenneth (6), are thriving as they grow up with the positive influence of the camp community around them.
